Rena is passionate about coming alongside individuals, families, and couples from all walks of life to work through difficult feelings and life situations. She believes that clients are the experts on themselves, and approaches therapy as a learner and a partner. She strives to work with clients to help them gain new insights and skills to resolve concerns and instill hope for the future. She is willing to work as hard as her clients are to help them achieve whatever goals they set for themselves. She believes that a positive relationship between therapist and client is key to reaching those goals successfully. She specializes in working with children, individuals, families, and couples to address relationship issues, parenting concerns, depression, anxiety, anger, and trauma. Additionally, Rena is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).

What is EMDR

It is a mental health treatment that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the resolution of mental health symptoms from adverse life experiences. Insights result from the client's own brain and body processing rather than the therapist's interpretation. EMDR is appropriate for clients of all ages

Rena is a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist trained to work within family and social systems to create long-lasting positive change and has worked with individuals, couples, and families since 2006.

Rena meets the Iowa Board of Behavioral Sciences and Iowa Board of Social Work requirements mandated to provide clinical supervision to temporary licensed couples and family therapists, temporary licensed mental health counselors, and LMSW's working toward independent clinical licensure. Rena is also working toward being an AAMFT approved supervisor under the mentorship of Amber Sampson. Additionally, she is a candidate for EMDR certification, meeting the standards set forth by the EMDR International Association. Rena specializes in trauma treatment in her practice.
